I've thought a lot about what being Bonafide means to me, particularly as a blogger. A lot of people have a skewed version of what a bloggers life is like. Some seem to think it's just a constant party of pretty photoshoots, free clothes, and thousands of followers. The truth is, it isn't that easy or glamorous. For most of us, we still work real full time jobs. We neglect our social lives by replying to the bottomless pit that is our email inbox. Don't even get me started on the crap we put our spouses through. The worst part is the hateful comments that pop up from people who don't know you whatsoever.
Kinda seems like it's crazy right? Why would we even want to do this? Despite the hard work and even harder days, it all pays off in the end. It's so gratifying to get a sweet comment, hear that you've inspired someone, or to make a new insta-friend. So even though I take pictures in a parking garage, with a camera I had to save up for, by a friend I had to bribe with Diet Coke to help, it's worth it. Especially when the lighting is on point!!!
I'm sure by now you guys are wondering what the crap I'm talking about and why I'm posting this "Confession". The truth is, the Internet lacks diversity in the being real and authentic department. We are constantly bombarded with photos and content that's there just for "likes" or new followers. It's rare to find someone being true to who they are on social media and the Internet. That's why I've teamed up to my friends at Be Bonafide to help spread the word to be real, be genuine, be authentic, BE BONAFIDE.
